introducing......

yuli andrea, makeup artist !!!!!!!

one of my dreams in life is to establish myself as a worldwide recognized makeup artist. i can't begin to explain to you what this means to me. when people talk about doing what you love in life- this is what i think of and then drift off day dreaming about.

i love the magic that makeup can bring. it is so versatile and diverse. it can bring life to just about anything you can dream of.

another reason i'm so passionate about my craft is because i get the chance to help women see their undeniable beauty.

this is passion, my dream and, i swear to everyone reading this, that i will make it my reality.

my first step to making this dream a reality is crating my comp card.

this is my baby, my work:

what do you guys think?

next up im working on getting my official website up and running. i never thought it would be so much work. but my goal is to have it live before the year's end.

...drugstore treasure: beauty brand...

beauty gurus have been whispering the name "jesse's girl" more and more lately.
(and no they're not talking about the song lol)

everytime i pass they're little section at rite aid, which i have to add is
getting bigger and bigger by the days, i am curious to see
what they're really about. then a friend asked me to do a review
on them- how could i say no!??!?!!?
(hmm was she reading my mind?? scary!)
so one day i chose two pigments to try out.
being very impressed i decided to pick up some more and
I AM PLEASENTLY SUPRISED!!!

jesse's girl has been around for some time but it's not until recently
they they're beginning to catch wind and expanding their collection.

first up their kohl formula eyeliners & lipliners

these are great liners!! they're quality is amazing, the pigmentation is so true
and they go on silky smooth! i abs hate liners that drag your skin- like
do i really need you to give me premature wrinkles?? don't think so!

*the blue steel in this pic doesn't do it justice- live it's a much brighter blue.

my favorite part about these liners is that they come with a sharpener on the tops!

now onto their pigments

first i have to let you know the pain in the you know what the
packaging is. the biggest disappointment!! they come wrapped in plastic and
THEN when you get the plastic off you have them sealed with a sticker.
yes im AAALLLLLL for hygenic safety but PLEASE explain to me
how this sticker is the only place where you can find the NAME OF THE PIGMENT?!

ummmm what happens when you throw this sticker
out bc you're so anxious to open the damn pot that you
just throw it out and then later realize you don't even
know what this color that you just fell in love with is called?!?!?!?!
and i'm NOT saying that it happened to me the first time around
(well maybe hehehehe)

(DISCLAIMER: please ignore my ragged nails- it's been a long week! lol)

well if you know me you know that i do not give into defeat.
sooooooo i realized that the sticker is small enough to fit on the bottom of the
pot very conveniently, letting you keep the name of the pigment!!
yes, yes i know im a genius :)
(or maybe they intended it to be like this)
(and if they did then these little things need to come with instructions :/ )

VOILA!!!!!

so the pigments are great BUT they are great on top of a white base.
all the swatches below were placed on top of NYX's Jumbo Pencil in Milk. this is the
only way that you will get true pigmentation. i spread the color out
onto the part of my skin that did not have the base and you could tell
that you only get a shimmer of the color. BUT aside from that
the colors are beautiful and i def am looking forward to working with them more.

keep in mind that all of their pigments are shimmery- there are no
matte pigments so you would need to work with matte shadows
bc you do not want to spread shimmer shadows all over your lid-
unless of course you're working at the circus. if that's the case then spread away!!

my favorite's are indian summer and sunstone.
i can't wait to use sunstone as a highlight!!!

plus you can't beat those prices!!!!

i'm planning on picking some more pigments this weekend bc i
love the results of these. they also have a range of other products:
lippies, glosses, mascara, etc but these were the ones that caught my attention.
i did pick up a gloss and i really liked it BUT, being me, i misplaced it.
i'm sure it's in one of my many bags lol.

what do you guys think? do you like them? have a favorite?

let me know- i love getting feedback!

also if you have a request for any review leave me a comment below.
you can also email me at beautymarkyuli@gmail.com

till next time!!

drugstore treasure: project sleek & shine

so i've been very curious with the new fad of doing the keratin to your hair and
i've been contemplating it for a looooong time. i just haven't had the balls
to commit. what if i don't like it? what if it doesn't look good?
WHAT IF MY HAIR FALLS OUT???!?!!?!?!?

yeah, ummmmm, no thank you!

well you don't know how happy i was when i saw
Garnier Fructis
came out with their
sleek & shine blow dry perfector
(queue the heaven music please)

i was soooooo excited to try it out but still had my mix feelings-
until i saw a review in Glamour Magazine that raved on how good
this product was for those that did not want to
commit to the full treatment.
UMMM WERE YOU TALKING TO ME?!?!

the clincher was when they said that it was actually
better for your hair because the formula isn't
as strong as the actual treatment, decreasing the damage to your hair (if any)

now little ole me goes to Rite Aid with my big ole cheese smile and
purchased this magic in a bottle. how happy was i at the price tag? ECSTATIC!
this baby was only $12.99!!! so if i didn't end up liking it the
damage was nowhere compared to the
$300 to $500 price tag on the keratin treatment.
RING ME UP PLEASE :)

UNFORTUNATELY this was two weeks ago,
when i so conveniently also purchased my hair dye to
add a shade darker to my strands. yes well little ole me
decided to read the box while the hair dye got to work on my strands.
"CAUTION: DO NOT USE BEFORE 14 DAYS OF DYING YOUR HAIR"

what???? so wth do i do now???? UGGGGHHHH PLANS RUINED.

well last night i was finally able to put this baby to work
and to say that i was happy with the results is an understatement!!

before

(well not really before but this is my natural curly hair hehehe)

after blow dry

after flat iron

it says that the treatment is activated with heat so they recommend that you flat iron it after it's blow dried

so what do you guys think?? i personally love it.

i wanted to really test it out so i slept with my hair lose.
when i would wake up, before the treatment, my hair would
be all frizzy and curly again. this morning i woke up with it perfect!!
then i went to the gym and when i came home and
let it down it was still perfect! no clip creases or anything.
yeah- i'm sold!!

garnier fructis says: Now you can achieve the perfect, bouncy-blow dry. One application of this innovative, 2-step smoothing kit . Tames frizz . Keeps hair smooth and shiny . Provides easier, faster blow dries . Lasts 7 shampoos

i'm def going to put this product to the test so
i will be updating you guys after each shampoo and
so we can both see if it really lasts and how good it keeps up.
stay tuned!!!

have you tried it? what did you think? let me know!!

...drugstore treasure...

welcome to another edition of drugstore treasures!!!

so this morning when it was time to do my makeup i found myself in a bit of a dilemma.
i wanted to do my foundation but did not want to use my brushes bc
they're due for a cleaning. so going through my foundation
drawer i came across my
wet n wild intuitive blend shade adjusting foundation and primer
(wheeewww)

WNW says: Breakthrough shade-adjusting technology starts out white and adjusts to match your extract shade. Unique primer properties smoothes and perfects skin with a silky, flawless finish.

i had forgotten about this little one so i decided to try it out again and oh boy!!! i dont know why i forgot bc now i remembered that i loved it!! (see what happens when you have toooo much makeup lol)

i love how moisturizing the formula is and how easy it is to apply with your hands, exactly what i needed this morning. it starts out white and has little beads in the cream that burst with color as soon as you begin to rub it on your face, giving you a light to medium coverage.

im not completely sold on the shade adjusting label
so make sure that you grab the right one for you- light, fair, medium, tan

i recommend this to anyone who would want to use foundation on a daily basis when you're on the run bc you can't beat the $3-$6 price tag.

try it out and let me know what you think!!!

beauty splurge

i am all about beauty on a budget. i find it unfair that some name brand beauty
products are so overwhemingly expensive when realistically
the girls that want these products do not make 6 figures.
who thinks this is fair???

that is why i dedicate most of my posts to highlighting some inexpensive brands and have drugstore treasures. i want to remind girls that you can get the same quality right around the corner. you don't need MAC or MUFE to get the same result.

but then again- its always nice to splurge every once in a while ;)

this is why im bringing you "beauty splurge"- posts where i will introduce some products that are a little more costly then others- but are def worth the price.

first up is one that i have been pining over for so long!!! and praying that it gets restocked bc this bad boy sold out within days of its release. and it finally did!!

this is Urban Decay's Naked Pallette
(i can hear the angels singing)

the velvety packaging is divine and the wide range
of nude toned colors is perfect for a go to palette.

in the palette you get a small tube of UD Primer Potion,
a dual end 24/7 liner in Zero (black) and Whiskey (soft brown) and 12 shadow shades:
Virgin (nude satin)
Sin (champagne shimmer)
Naked (buff matte)
Sidecar (beige sparkle)
Buck (brown matte)
Half Baked (bronze)
Smog (golden brown shimmer)
Darkhorse (bronze-plum shimmer)
Toasted (taupe-bronze)
Hustle (mocha shimmer)
Creep (near-black metallic)
Gunmetal (dark grey metallic)

this set retails at $44.00 and with everything that it comes with i say this is a pretty good deal.
unfortunately it is sold out but you can sign up here for a notification of when it is re-released :)

if you have it or get it let me know what you think!

and the prize goes to...

hi ladies!

i wanted to share with you all the lucky winner of my first giveaway (yay)

as this is a beautymark's favorites giveaway then what better things to give away then MY favorites?!?!

if you're a devoted follower (thank you btw) than you already know some of my favorites- from cleansers to falsies to lippes to brushes :) oh if the list could go on...

the lucky winner will be getting a chunky beautymark goodybag filled with the goodies
found here

First let's go over the entries of all my lovely ladies

first up is my beautiful friend Margie from SimplyFabulouss:

"My ultimate favorite Lig Gloss #14 from Sephora... I put this one once and im good for a few hours.. Love the glossy, nude finish :)"

"I love changing my nail polish color every couple of days and Salle Hansens Insta-dri polish has got to be my ultimate favorite. This color is one of my recent buys and i love it. It really does dry very fast giving it a salon finish."

next up we have Tallen, a fabulous elementary school friend:

"I just bought the Buxom Lips by Buxom which is a product line developed by Bare Escentuals. Its gives perfect pouty lips swells 'em up a lil bit and the product has "all natural ingredients" and u feel the minty-ness when u apply it. Feels gooooooood."

"and all MAC pigments! I love all of MAC cosmetics for there colors"

now we have my beautiful friend Yary, whose devotion to my blog reminds me why i love doing this:

"Olay active hydrating beauty fluid is my favorite face cream because it doesn't leave my face feeling oily and it's not too aggressive in my pores, at least that's what I think lol and I also love the smell of it : ) "

"I also looooove my Biore strips!! I use them at least once a week. I tried other brands but this one worked best for me! I saw things if you know what I mean lol and pulling these babies off is like drinking a glass of confidence. So when I know I'm gonna be wearing makeup I like to use this a day before. If you notice, these are in chinese and that's because every time Serena goes to Hong Kong I always request for these as they're sooooo much cheaper to get from there : ) so I stock up for until she goes back."

now it's JT's turn, one of the many great friends that came with my BF :) :

"Nars red lipstick-shanghai express (unfortunately has been discontinued but I have like 2 extra for back up lol) I found this lipstick 4 yrs ago at sephora... I grew up always loving red lipstick bc that's all my grams wore :0) however I was always self conscience of wearing it bc I have big lips and I could never find the perfect red that wasn't too shiny or bright and had the right consistency/texture. This red covers all the above characteristics that I wanted in a red lipstick hence why I bought 2 back ups... Lol I attached some pics for u to see why this joints my fave!"

"Loreal-pigment cream eyeliner. Geneva introduced me to this eyeliner. I love it bc its the line comes out clean, crisp and stays on all freaking day/night!!! No matter what the circumstances are bad weather, sweaty club night, hot steaming nights ;0) lol"

last but not least is my fav fellow colombian, Lina, i love this girl! :

"Nivea Body Goodby Cellulite Gel-Cream
This product is amazing! You can find it at target for about 10 bucks. In 3-4 weeks I saw drastic results. I bottle lasts about a month if you use the product two times a day. You have to apply it either once or twice a day and rub the area where you are applying the gel. I use it on my legs and booty and the results are noticeably visable. I first started using it last year when I went to Miami I tried it starting a month before I went and my legs looked great out there. The scent is not too bad and goes away quickly. Also the product takes about 2 mins to dry which is good when you are in a rush to get to work in the morning. We all hate cellulite and this is a great way to make it go away. BTW the results are not permanent they are temporary so you have to keep using it. Now I only use it once or twice a week but it keeps the cellulite to a minimum and I HATE CELLULITE fyi. lol"

"Jergins Natural Glow Express Moisturizer
I was always skeptical about self-tanning products because I had heard horror stories of ppl turning orange and I've seen orange ppl on the trains and streets not a cute look! lol So my friend the other day had a great glow to her and I said what's different and she said I used this tinted moisturizer. I went to target the next day and said I want my summer color back! So i bought this product also 10 dollars at target. I LOVE IT! you notice a change right away. I used it at night because I wasn't sure how it would work/look when I put on make up. It looks very natural and works instantly. Remember to wash your hands after. I wasn't too bright and had dark fingers for a couple days lol. I used it once 4 days in a row bc i got excited and started to look a little unnatural so I recommend using it only once maybe twice a week and that's what I've been doing and it doesn't let me look pale and sickly which is my natural look barf! haha also I have to use less bronzer now which is a plus! i'm trying to put on less makeup =/"

now to pick the winner!!!

this is a giveaway so the entries will not be judge by better or worse. i am choosing the winner by a random number generator found on random.org

i submitted the numbers by order of entry received, the order that the entries are listed here.

so the lucky winner is:

YARY!!!!

congratulations to the lucky winner!!! can't wait to give you your goody bag!!

can't wait to host more giveaways and contests!!

now i'm off to try all of these great products, thanks to these girls ;)
