fall/winter makeup trends!!

hi dolls!

if you're in NYC then you've noticed our abrupt change of weather. yes, fall is here. and with it comes new colors, new styles, new trends in the fashion world.

well today will be all about the new trends in the makeup world for the fall/winter
  • defined eyebrows

i am ssooooo happy that thick and defined brows have come back.
i'm sorry but i'm not a fan of the pencil thin brows that some girls are rocking mmmmmm no pass!
to achieve this look you just need a brown shadow or cream shadow and a slanted liner brush. i stay away from pencils because they leave a very harsh look. i plan to put a "how to" soon so stay tuned

  • bright lips

what can be more perfect than a nice lippie?? NOTHING
so it's no surprise that this fall's fav trend for me is the bright lips. the best part is that you don't need more than this!! seriously- how quick will your morning beauty routine be now?!

some perfect lippies for the fall are:
  • NYX's Eucalyptus

  • NYX's Margherita

  • Prestige's Fatal Red

for more fav lippies VISIT HERE

  • nude, nude, nude

this is my absolute fav trend!! im a nude makeup kind of girl so i'm in love <3 href="http://www.beautyymark.org/2010/09/drugstore-treasure.html">you'll find great ones here. keep the eyes neutral with brown and beige tones. remember to use brown liners instead of your usual black.
  • smokey & heavy lined eye

who doesn't love a classic smokey eye???
this season's trend involves more eyeliner than eyeshadow. smudged and messy instead of neat and perfect.
take you're favorite black eyeshadow and dust it on your lids, lightly!! then trace the rims of your eyes with a waterproof eyeliner and smudge. remember that it doesn't have to be perfect and don't forget to line your upper and lower water lines :)
  • coppers, metallics, reds

ooooh the "have fun with it" look of this season. i love it love it love it love it.
there isn't much explanation here except to not be afraid to try some metallics out.
some key pointers are:
  • do not do full eyelid in metallic- we're trying to be trendy not clowny :)
  • find shades that compliment your skin tones
  • keep your blush along the same tones so you have a uniformed look and not turn clowny

those are this season's makeup trends. what do you think? have a fav? leave me a comment and let me know.

beauty product of the week!

hi dolls!

this week's beauty product is:

Dove Daily Treatment Conditioner, Intensive Repair

this treatment is from Dove's Damage Therapy Line. i have tried other products from their line and they're really great but they do not match the Intensive Repair treatment. this is like silk for your hair!!!

Dove says "When your hair feels dry and breaks easily, or you're struggling with lots of split ends, it's time for Dove Intense Damage System. Our expert damage care technology: A unique formula with Treatment inside Conditioner: Treatment with Fiber Actives: Penetrates deep inside to help rebind damaged proteins and reconstruct internally. Conditioner: with patented Micro Moisture Serum: repairs, intensely nourishes and seals lifted cuticles to help protect against future damage. Did you know? Conditioners mainly repair surface damage but some damage lies deep inside the hair fiber. Intense Damage leaves your hair intensely nourished, signifantly strengthened and silky smooth to touch."

seriously you need to go out and get this! i have substituted my conditioner and just use this every time i wash my hair and let me tell you- my hair has never been better!!

go out and get it ladies!!

drugstore treasure!!

hello my dears!!

time for another drugstore treasure! go ahead... get excited... its ok :)

i absolutely love makeup but i DO NOT agree in paying tons and tons of money on name brand makeup when there are perfectly good dupes out there. i mean, it's nice to splurge every once in a while, and YES, some name brands really do have great quality, BUT there is great quality in your local duane reade, rite aid, walgreens, etc.

this is why like bringing you my "drugstore treasures" is so important to me. i like sharing all my goodies with you girlies in hopes that it will make your next run to the store that much better.

well today's find are......................... BRONZERS :)

i loooooove bronzers, especially this time of year- when my tan is fading and so is the sun :(

well the trick to keeping that beautiful glow is having the right bronzer. and at the moment i'm obsessed with

Rimmel London's Sun Shimmer: Shimmering Max Bronzer

i love this thing and carry it everywhere! all i need this is a little mascara and a dust of this all over my face and neck and out the door i go!
the best part of this bronzer are the gold flecks in it that leaves the perfect shimmer!!

i feel that Rimmel really does have the best bronzer's out there but my other favorites include:

Physician's Formula

Avon's Smooth Mineral Bronzer

Soap & Glory's Solar Power

so go out and try some- just remember not to overdue it or you'll end up like this...

have fun and follow!!

ShoeHoe Contest...

My beautiful friend Margie, from www.simplyfabulouss.com, is hosting a ShoeHoe Contest. its a contest calling out all the fly girls to display their shoe game.

this is my entry below (taken from her blog):

Yuli Sanchez

Show me your shoes...
This is before i move out my mothers house. There's more

Show me your favorite shoes...
The hardest thing was picking favorites! I tried though and this is my list, but in all reality all my shoes are my favorites, if not I wouldn’t have any!!
The floral print makes them so unique and just perfect for a tee and jeans- the bow on the top pushes them to the level of perfection :) (I have a huge obsessions with anything that has bows!)

AHHHH my Cinderella shoes!!! They have glitter! They have height! They have platform!!! I LOOOOOVE THESE!!! (I think u get the picture lol)

My new Fall boots. I’ve been dying to have over the knee boots especially for the fall. BUT, as all my friends know, I barely get to have any knee high (let alone thigh high) boots bc they never close on my calf L. WELL when I found these babies at F21 I fell in love, now I just had to cling on to prayer as I tried them on. And to my surprise THEY WENT ALL THE WAY UP!!! I was sold!! Oh, and the $40 price tag didn’t hurt. All this = my new fav boots :)

Show me your killer shoes...
I wore these to FNO and boy did I pay the price. They are absolutely gorgeous and I would stay in them all night, BUT with height comes pain- and these babies hurt!

Tell me where you usually shop for shoes....
I shop EVERYWHERE!! From $5 stores to high end boutiques. But my new obsession is Marshall’s Shoe Megashop. Oh man this is a dream come true. And now that I moved to the Bronx I have one 15 mins away = HEAVEN!!!!

Tell me one random/interesting fact about you....
I’m an aspiring make up artist!! My dream is to make it big doing what I absolutely love. My blog is http://www.beautyymark.org/, check it out!! (shameless plug lol). My whole life I’ve been playing with makeup. Through college I always was the one that did all the girls makeup, be it for a party or for Halloween. I can’t believe I didn’t realize it sooner that this was my one true passion, sadly this is my one regret. But I know it’s never too late to follow your dreams, and that is exactly what I’m doing!! XOXO- YULI ANDREA

check out her blog www.simplyfabulouss.com- you won't regret it!

xoxo

Color Candy...

the one thing i miss about living with my sister is the addiction we share for painting our nails. when we were together our nail polish collection was BANANAS!! now we each have our own stash so every chance i get to look through it i do!! and this time i found gold!!!

Essie's Mesmerize!

i loooooved this color. it was so nice that my mom actually took it to do her own nails lol.

now im gonna have to get my own! :)

like it??

Great Advice

i got this in an email today and wanted to share it with you guys:

Words of Advice:

The less you associate with some people, the more your life will improve.
Any time you tolerate mediocrity in others, it increases your mediocrity.
An important attribute in successful people is their impatience with negative thinking and negative acting people.

As you grow, your associates will change.
Some of your friends will not want you to go on.
They will want you to stay where they are.
Friends that don't help you climb will want you to crawl.
Your friends will stretch your vision or choke your dreams.
Those that don't increase you will eventually decrease you.

Consider this: Never receive counsel from unproductive people.
Never discuss your problems with someone incapable of contributing to the solution, because those who never succeed themselves are always first to tell you how.

Not everyone has a right to speak into your life.
You are certain to get the worst of the bargain when you exchange ideas with the wrong person. Don't follow anyone who's not going anywhere.

With some people you spend an evening, with others you invest it.
Be careful where you stop to inquire for directions along the road of life.

Wise is the person who fortifies his life with the right friendships.
If you run with wolves, you will learn how to howl.
But, if you associate with eagles, you will learn how to soar to great heights.

i agree with this so much. what do you think?

xoxo

beauty product of the week:

hi girlies :)

i'm going to start posting a "beauty product of the week" for all you beautiful ladies.

if you haven't noticed already im BIG on great inexpensive makeup. don't take me wrong i love MAC and MUFE just as much as the next girl but it's very unrealistic sometimes for girls on a budget. and i don't know about you but i haven't started making my millions yet so until then...

so the beauty product of the week is Avon's SuperExtend Mascara

Avon says "Your eyes won’t believe your lashes. In just one step, lashes go to super glamorous lengths. No extensions needed. Visibly lengthens lashes up to 55%.* Unique super-smooth, super-separating molded brush works with our unique super-stretch formula to coax and comb every lash up, out and away…beyond your wildest expectations! Innovative stretch-formula with unique triangular-shape fibers lenthen lashes beyond belief…with a sleek, shiny, super-sexy finish. Waterproof formula is super-easy to remove."

this is my go to mascara this week. if you've read lashes lashes lashes!
you would know that lashes are my #1 beauty obsession and this mascara def takes care of that. the brush is amazing!! it seperates all of your lashes and makes them SUPER LONG.

need a new mascara? try Avon's SuperExtend Mascara you won't be dissapointed :)

beauty basics: skincare

hiiiii!!!

this is the first installment of beautymark's "beauty basics series"- introduced here.

the goal with beauty basics is to provide you with a guide to the basic steps in a beauty routine- insider tips and tricks as well as steps for applying and perfecting our basic beauty routines. things like concealing under eye circles, applying falsies and filling in eyebrows.

so let's begin!!

the first and MOST IMPORTANT step in your beauty basics routine is SKINCARE!! i cannot emphasize how important it is to take care of your skin. how could you not?? it's what you're working with, the core of your beauty.

makeup should be used as an enhancer to your natural beauty, NOT as a cover up to you what already have and this is why we need to take care of our skin.

the first step in skin care is WATER!!!! you need to make sure that you drink enough water. this is how your skin is able to rejuvenate and replenish itself. so remember your 8 glasses a day. try to get as close to this as possible and remember that having more than 8 will never hurt ;)

the next is keeping a CLEAN face. i personally have dry skin with LOTS of pores so my skincare routine goes a little something like this:

i swear by Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser

no matter what type of skin you have, this cleanser will give you the best deep cleaning ever.

i also started using l'oreal's go 360 clean (mostly bc of the cute scrubber it comes with lol)

i absolutely love it and will continue using it. i got the blue one for dry skin but they have a wide variation according to your skin type.

the next key step is to EXFOLIATE. this is soooooo important. you're skin is constantly rejuvenating itself by producing new skin cells. this means that you are left with dead cells on your face- GROSS!!!! to remove these dead cells you need to exfoliate, allowing your skin to shine and be radiant with its new cells.

i like St. Ive's Apricot Scrub for fresh skin

i use it every two days but i don't recommend this for everyone. work on the number of times a week that use it to find the one that best fits you.
(beauty tip: use it on your lips for smooth fresh lips ;) )

it also helps when you use special masks or treaments every now and then. i like clean and clear's morning burst in shower facial

every since i saw Juicy07's Youtube video on this i've been hooked. so what you do is you lather this baby on your face and leave it on for 3 mins. after the 3 mins you scrub it off, it has micro scrubbing beads that help clean off the residue. if you look in the mirror after you can see all your blackheads on the surface of your face!! since blackheads are my biggest problem i was sold! i use this once a week with a biore pore strip = MAGIC! an instant facial at home YAY!!!

once all the cleaning is done you need to lather up with face cream.

i like using Pond's but i know that it can be very oily for others. i also like Aveeno's positively radiant and Olay's total effects.
(tip: it is NEVER too late to start using anti-wrinkle creams)

use your favorite and cover that pretty face up.

so my skincare routine goes a little like this:
  1. l'oreal go 360 clean (daily)
  2. biore blemish fighting ice cleanser (daily)
  3. st. ive's apricot scrub for fresh skin/invigorating (every other day)
  4. clean & clear's morning burst in shower facial (once a week)
  5. pond's face cream (daily)

i hope this helped you and gave you a look at some new things to try.

let me know if they work for you and share some of your "beauty basics: skincare" secrets.

till next time

xoxo

Makeup Essentials: Brushes

hi beautifuls!

so my one big obsession when it comes to makeup is a good makeup brush! (let's face it i have like 20 million makeup obsessions but we'll leave that for another post lol)

as every makeup guru knows- the brush is really the key to every great beauty look. it can really make or break the final face- giving you a cakey finish versus a flawless finish- SSOOOOO IMPORTANT!

with that said- my top 5 brush brands are:

Coastal scents (www.coastalscents.com)

i looooooove these brushes. the bristles have the perfect firmness and they don't shed :) there's really nothing bad i can say about them. PLUS they come in PINK!!!!

Sonia Kashuk (available @ Target)

the quality of this brush is amazing. they last a very very long time. their biggest pro is that no matter how many times you use and wash them they stay exactly the way they were when you first got them- major bonus!

NYX (www.nyxcosmetics.com)

the shadow brushes are their best product. they are the perfect size for spreading and blending the shadows on your lid. i'm not a fan of their face brushes though :/ i feel like they're too flimsy. i prefer a firmer brush but nonetheless they're great.

ECO Tools (drugstores)

whenever i'm in the mood to pamper my skin these are the brushes i reach for. they're unbelievably soft and smooth, you never want to stop applying your products lol. this is a great brush to use to set your makeup bc it won't cake on your setting powder but lightly swipe it on. loooove these :)

the best thing about these brushes are that they very inexpensive but give you a very high quality brush- what can be better than that???

i'm also purchasing my first Sigma Brush set (www.sigmamakeup.com) bc i've heard nothing but great things about them from the makeup community. i'll let you know how those are when i get them- so excited :0

i hope this helped. if you get to try any of them let me know what you think!!

until next time...
