beauty basics: skincare

hiiiii!!!

this is the first installment of beautymark's "beauty basics series"- introduced here.

the goal with beauty basics is to provide you with a guide to the basic steps in a beauty routine- insider tips and tricks as well as steps for applying and perfecting our basic beauty routines. things like concealing under eye circles, applying falsies and filling in eyebrows.

so let's begin!!

the first and MOST IMPORTANT step in your beauty basics routine is SKINCARE!! i cannot emphasize how important it is to take care of your skin. how could you not?? it's what you're working with, the core of your beauty.

makeup should be used as an enhancer to your natural beauty, NOT as a cover up to you what already have and this is why we need to take care of our skin.

the first step in skin care is WATER!!!! you need to make sure that you drink enough water. this is how your skin is able to rejuvenate and replenish itself. so remember your 8 glasses a day. try to get as close to this as possible and remember that having more than 8 will never hurt ;)

the next is keeping a CLEAN face. i personally have dry skin with LOTS of pores so my skincare routine goes a little something like this:

i swear by Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser

no matter what type of skin you have, this cleanser will give you the best deep cleaning ever.

i also started using l'oreal's go 360 clean (mostly bc of the cute scrubber it comes with lol)

i absolutely love it and will continue using it. i got the blue one for dry skin but they have a wide variation according to your skin type.

the next key step is to EXFOLIATE. this is soooooo important. you're skin is constantly rejuvenating itself by producing new skin cells. this means that you are left with dead cells on your face- GROSS!!!! to remove these dead cells you need to exfoliate, allowing your skin to shine and be radiant with its new cells.

i like St. Ive's Apricot Scrub for fresh skin

i use it every two days but i don't recommend this for everyone. work on the number of times a week that use it to find the one that best fits you.
(beauty tip: use it on your lips for smooth fresh lips ;) )

it also helps when you use special masks or treaments every now and then. i like clean and clear's morning burst in shower facial

every since i saw Juicy07's Youtube video on this i've been hooked. so what you do is you lather this baby on your face and leave it on for 3 mins. after the 3 mins you scrub it off, it has micro scrubbing beads that help clean off the residue. if you look in the mirror after you can see all your blackheads on the surface of your face!! since blackheads are my biggest problem i was sold! i use this once a week with a biore pore strip = MAGIC! an instant facial at home YAY!!!

once all the cleaning is done you need to lather up with face cream.

i like using Pond's but i know that it can be very oily for others. i also like Aveeno's positively radiant and Olay's total effects.
(tip: it is NEVER too late to start using anti-wrinkle creams)

use your favorite and cover that pretty face up.

so my skincare routine goes a little like this:
  1. l'oreal go 360 clean (daily)
  2. biore blemish fighting ice cleanser (daily)
  3. st. ive's apricot scrub for fresh skin/invigorating (every other day)
  4. clean & clear's morning burst in shower facial (once a week)
  5. pond's face cream (daily)

i hope this helped you and gave you a look at some new things to try.

let me know if they work for you and share some of your "beauty basics: skincare" secrets.

till next time

xoxo
